What do I need to grow?

Backyard garden space, ideally that locks & can’t be seen from the street. Can take up to 6ftx6ft of space by end of season!
- optional: a trellis if you want to manipulate your plants, & underlayment if you don't want to deal with weeds
Two, 5-gallon buckets AND 1 to 2 bottles of hydrogen peroxide for bud washing
Space to hang dry for 2-ish weeks (ex: in a spare bedroom, a large closet, spot in your basement)
- Command hooks/screws and twine work great

FAQ

How much time will I have to put into this?

The plant will be in the ground for 12 to 14 weeks from the first week of July through September. For the first 5 weeks, only about 1 hour per week of maintenance is needed, with occasional pest control sprays and manipulation. As trimming and pest control ramps up, you’ll regularly check your plant (daily or every other). The plant will need 2-4 big trims total, taking anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours each time depending on how many leaves. At no point will you need more than 6 hours a week working on one plant, unless big issues arise (which we can help you with!) Harvesting is a 3-5 hour activity depending on how well-trimmed your plants are (and how much it yields). During drying, you’ll need to twice-daily check your dry room to ensure proper conditions (unless you dry in a garage - this can work but is not ideal) Once dried, the final task is trimming. One plant takes about 4-6 hours for one person to trim (so call up your friends to help!) We will have weekly grow task emails + instructional seminars with live plants to ensure you know what you're doing all the way through!

How much bud will I yield?

One well-maintained GOAT Genetics clone will get you around 1lb of plant or more!

Do I need grow experience or a garden?

While it’s beneficial to have some gardening experience, it is not necessary. Even if you don’t have garden plot, the plant can be grown over a patch of grass! But it MUST BE IN THE GROUND! No pots.

Do I Need to have a Medical Card?

Having your medical card allows you to grow up to 5 plants in the state of Illinois. Federally, the rules continue to change as cannabis is rescheduled and the definition of “hemp” vs. “cannabis” is redefined. But as it stands today, cannabis is still federally illegal. However, in Illinois, growing a single cannabis plant outside is NOT a criminal charge.

Do I Need a Dry Room?

Yes, you will need some space in your home to dry the cannabis. How fancy you get is up to you, but the more attention to environment, the nicer the bud. You CAN dry the bud in a garage very simply. But ideally, your dry room is a spare room that can be darkened and be undisturbed for 2 weeks. Depending on exterior conditions, you will very likely need air conditioning to this room plus the ability to humidify or dehumidify to keep ideal conditions.

What is included with Online Support?

Outdoor Grow Club includes access to our Discord community for members to share experiences, show off their grow, and learn. We're all growing the same plant so it'll be fun to compare! There will also be weekly emails sent to all members with info on what grow tasks you should be doing that week for best yield.

Where will I pick up by Grow Kit?

We will have an Outdoor Grow Club kickoff party on Sunday, June 28th on the northside of Chicago. If you are unable to make it, we will arrange a pickup between June 25-29th.
